Gyms

Sports Clubs or Gyms

Gyms have become one of the top places to flirt and find love. Although they used to be the realm of the ultra-fit (or the ulta-posey), they now tend to cater for a wide range of people, all with the positive intention of looking and feeling better about themselves.

It's worth bearing in mind however, that a year's gym membership can cost around the same as one of the top dating agencies, so it's really not worth joining if you hate exercising. If you do enjoy keeping fit though, a gym can be a great way to widen your social circle as well as making you feel better about yourself.

What to Do

There are a wide variety of conversation starters available to you: ask them how often they work out, how a certain machine or piece of equipment works, or whether they'd like to try out the new protein shake at the juice bar. However, if you try to strike up a conversation with someone you find attractive and they give you the brush off (no matter how politely), drop your advance then and there and let them get on with exercising.

There's a fine line between catching an admiring glance of someone working out in front of you at the gym and leering - don't get caught gaping, it's embarrassing as well as creepy.

In addition to gym work, many clubs also offer social evenings, such as parties, barbeques or picnics; this will give you the opportunity to chat to people in a more social setting and many new friendships have been made in this way.
