Film and Book Clubs

Book & Film Clubs

Film and book clubs are perfect for those people who enjoy meeting new people and exercising their minds. The membership of these clubs can be very diverse both in age range and culturally. Even if you don't meet many potential dates, it's a great way to widen your social circles and reduce the number of nights you spend at home feeling sorry for yourself.

Meetings are generally held once a month, and bring together a wide range of people all with a love of movies or books in common. Members of book clubs take it in turn to choose a book and discuss it at the following meeting. Similarly, film clubs meet and watch a film, and then discuss it afterwards over a drink.

A number of the larger bookstore chains, such as Waterstone's and Borders hold poetry nights and author talks, which can be a great way to meet people with similar literary interests to you.

What to Do

Many meetings and event are held in quieter bars and pubs; this will give you plenty of opportunity to interact with the other members. Conversation should be fairly easy; for a start you have your favourite books, authors and films. However, you shouldn't worry if you don't meet a potential date; you'll still have an interesting night out and may meet a few new friends on the way.
