Personal Ad Lingo
When writing a personal ad, you may be given a maximum number of words you can use (usually about 25), or alternatively, you are often required to pay by the word.
With this in mind, there are a number of universally understood abbreviations that may be used to save space and money, as shown in the table below. Knowing these abbreviations can come in very handy when writing an ad, and they are almost essential when trying to decipher someone else's!
