SMS Dictionary

The majority of mobile phone network providers will allow you to send messages 160 characters in length - including the spaces between words. The need to maximise the use of this space, coupled with the desire to make texting as quick a process as possible has led to the creation of a whole host of SMS abbreviations.

The table below lists some of the most popular text abbreviations in use at the moment. When writing your message, don't forget that they're supposed to be short and to the point - that's half the fun!
