Spotting a Lie

In addition to looking out for the signs that someone may be attracted to you (or not), it's also a good idea to keep an eye out for someone who may not telling you the truth; this can make the difference between heartbreak and a happy relationship.
Hands
There are a number of evasion signs you could spot, such as hiding their palms, keeping their hands behind the back or in their pockets - all signals that the truth is being held back.
Smiles
Watch out for insincere smiles that don't quite reach the eyes; fake smiles often look exaggerated and remain in place for too long, whereas real smiles will make the eyes crinkle.
Eyes
You can also learn to 'see' a lie. Most people will find it very difficult to look someone directly in the eye and lie convincingly. Women often massage the skin under the eye and look at the ceiling when they lie, whereas men tend to rub a closed eye vigorously whilst looking at the floor.
Timing
The timing and duration of emotional gestures are often slightly out when someone lies; the display of emotion is delayed, stays longer it would naturally, and then stops suddenly. The timing between the gesture and the words associated with it are often also wrong: for example, saying "I'd love to give you a call!" and then smiling after making that statement, rather then at the same time the statement is made.
